Exploring

It’s no secret that the vegan movement is gaining momentum year on year. The plant powered pledge promoted through Veganuary each year sees people commit to exploring the wonderful world of veganism for 31 days throughout January, with many choosing to continue after. Now, a vegan lifestyle is easier than ever to enjoy, with new vegan friendly products landing every week, more and more restaurants launching plant-based menus to tempt even the most avid meat eaters, and big names sharing the vision for a vegan world.

As the benefits of a vegan lifestyle become more widespread, more and more people are opting to cut out, or reduce, their meat and dairy consumption. Reasons cited for this range from animals and the environment to health benefits, but whatever your reason you’ll be making a difference. It’s exciting discovering new products, trying new recipes and visiting new eateries, but it can also be a minefield when you first make the switch.

Knowing key ingredients and products to look out for when shopping really helps. Whilst wine may not be the first thing that springs to mind as potentially non-vegan, there are a couple of things to look out for. Read our handy guide below to find out more and discover which of our award-winning wines make the perfect vegan friendly tipple.

Wine is just made from grapes though – isn’t it?

Yes! The ingredients in wine are usually vegan friendly, however the winemaking process isn’t always so. In order to clean the juice before fermentation, some wineries use gelatine to remove suspended solids post pressing of the grapes. However, here at Bolney we are making an ongoing effort to ensure we have a range of vegan friendly wines to choose from.

Many wines will be labelled as vegan or vegan friendly on the label now, and for those that aren’t, a quick check on the producer’s website or an email to them will clarify this so you can pour yourself a glass and enjoy!

So which Bolney wines are vegan friendly?

Plenty of our English wines are suitable for vegans, as well as our Bolney Estate Gin. Read on below to discover our vegan range, as well as the perfect food matches for each.
