One of the details you may overlook when planning a wedding reception is the wine. You might have planned some cocktails for welcoming and a bar for later in the evening, but have you thought about wines to pair with the wedding breakfast and a sparkling to toast with?
Below we look at the main moments where quality wine is essential on your big day.
Welcome drinks
Some people prefer to make a special cocktail for this, but wine is a beautifully elegant choice for those that like to keep things traditional. A wine such as a sparkling Blanc de Blancs would be ideal for this. And if you do want to do something a bit different, then why not have Kir Royale made using our Bolney Bubbly and Bramley and Gage Créme de Cassis? Or try an English Vermouth and tonic!
Something to toast with
A romantic sparkling wine is the best choice here, such as our Cuvée Rosé. It is our most popular choice for weddings as it is both romantic in style and traditional. Our Cuvee Rose is a wonderful, traditional method sparkling wine, with subtle pink colour in the glass and a fine, tightly beaded mousse. Aromas of brioche and summer fruits lead to raspberry ripple, red apple and hints of pastry on the palate, with a smooth, creamy finish.
Wine to pair with your meal
This is the most important area in which to select your wine very carefully. The right wine will bring out the flavours in your food, the wrong wine will throw everything off balance.
Lighter, zestier white wine because they tend to be easier to pair with all styles of foods and are a better quality for the price. A good choice would be a dry and fruity style like our Bacchus or Pinot Gris. This will certainly please your audience and would be a good selection for a summer wedding.
Red wine is a classic crowd favourite and will be about half of a wedding wine purchase. A good choice would be a smooth and delicate fruity wine like our Pinot Noir or Lychgate Red.
At Bolney, our team is happy to help you select the best wines for your menu as the right wine pairings for your meal largely largely depends on the dishes you have selected. Book your free tasting and wine consultation by emailing [email protected].
