This month we are proud to have added Love Cocoa to our range of luxury, British suppliers, both in store and online. The creator of Love Cocoa has carried on the passion for good chocolate and philanthropy that has been in his family for almost two centuries. Their mission is to create great tasting chocolates and truffles with a focus on making a climate positive change.  Whatever your sweet treat of choice, from decadent truffles to deliciously flavoured chocolate bars, you’re sure to find the perfect Love Cocoa chocolate for you.

We spoke to the team at Love Cocoa to find out more about their chocolate, their love for the environment and their work with Bolney. Here’s what they told us:

Tell us about Love Cocoa

‘Inspired by my great-great-great grandfather John Cadbury, I created Love Cocoa with the purpose of making great tasting chocolate bars here in Great Britain, in a way that’s loved by you, the planet, and its people.’ – James Cadbury

How did you start/what is your history? And why?

Love Cocoa was set up 5 years ago and started from a small market stand right by Old Street station in East London. Chocolate certainly runs in the family, and I wanted to create a brand that championed ethically, sustainably sourced cocoa, whilst also giving back. Our plant a tree project that we started in 2020, combines all the things I wanted Love Cocoa to be – for every product we sell, we plant one tree and in 2020 we were able to plant 500,000 trees with cocoa farmers in Northern Cameroon. This year, we’re planting a further 500,000 in Kenya.

What’s your favourite thing about what you do?

The tree planting work that we do as a business is something that is really important to the whole team, and something that really sets us apart from other brands. Our whole team is incredibly passionate about sustainability, and we’re delighted that we’re able to champion sustainable initiatives within the company, whilst creating and selling such delicious products!

As an extra perk, we’re never going to complain about all the chocolate sampling in the office either!

What’s your favourite/most popular product?

Our tablet bars are a real customer favourite, with the honeycomb and salted caramel being especially popular. Our salted caramel truffles are also a firm favourite, people just can’t get enough of salted caramel!

Why do you like working with Bolney?

Bolney champions the best of British, and as a fellow British maker, we’re all about supporting local businesses and championing the best of what our country has to offer. We love Bolney’s attitude of being guided by nature and how sustainability is also a driving force behind much of the business. Similar to Love Cocoa, sustainability is a focus within the packaging too, and we love the fully recycled packaging… and the wine inside the bottle too!

Do you have any exciting plans/launches coming up?

With Christmas just around the corner, we have a range of new Christmas launches, including our charity advent calendar, where 100% of the profits will be given to the NHS. We will also be launching some new truffle flavours and perfect winter warmers – watch this space!

‘We absolutely love working with local businesses who we can truly champion and grow with, and are just as passionate about their own business as they are about supporting others.’
