ABV:
13%

Grape/ Blend:
100% Chardonnay

History:
The 'Toques et Clochers' Chardonnay was first introduced in 1989 and takes its name from the gala dinner held every year and cooked by a celebrity chef (hence the chef's hat - 'toque') whilst the wine is auctioned and the proceeds used to maintain the church bells of a different wine village every year (hence the 'clochers').

Terroir:
Mixture of limestone, molasse and alluvial soils. The co-op pioneered soil analysis and terroir based selection in the region.

Notes:
Melted butter, nuts, caramel and toast. There is also a deliciously lemony twist in the finish. Yet another wine where the accent is on terroir and minimal intervention. It is unfiltered and unfined, so expect a small deposit at the bottom of the bottle. Think Burgundy, particularly Meursault.
Here at Bolney we recommend pairing with macaroni cheese or chicken and mushroom stroganoff!
