About the Winemaker Established in 1716, Quinta do Vallado is one of the oldest and most famous estates in the Douro Valley. For almost 200 years, Quinta do Vallado produced only port wines, but are now also a formidable producer of dry white, rosé and red wine. They own 70ha of vineyards in the Lower Corgo and another 30ha of organic vineyards at Quinta do Orgal in Douro Superior… Handpicked and gently handled, grapes used for port wine production are then foot trodden in granite lagares, as well as a small percentage of the grapes used for dry wine. Quinta do Vallado have been producing top quality, single-estate ports and dry wines under their own brand since the early 90s, and have achieved worldwide recognition from leading press and experts. They also have three small wine hotels among their vineyards, making them one of the unmissable places to visit in the Douro Valley
