It is most definitely the autumn season, with cosy woollen hats, snugly cashmere jumpers and voluminous coats (well and truly a staple in our wardrobes). The evenings are beginning to draw in and we can’t wait to cosy up in front of our log fires in the evening. What better way to embrace this time of year than to pop into Bolney and enjoy our hospitality with some winter warmers.
We have recently added to our menu a Roast Dinner on a Sunday. Come and relax in our Eighteen Acre Café, Restaurant and Bar, with its picturesque panoramic view of the vineyard. The leaves are looking particularly beautiful at the moment as they change colour. You get a choice of Roast Lamb or Beef, and for vegetarians a Mushroom Pot Pie. The roasts come with roasted potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and vegetables, topped with gravy. We are offering two courses for £20, or three for £24. A full menu can be seen on our website HERE.
Why not enjoy some wine with your meal? All of the Bolney wines are available by the glass, or bottle, to enjoy with your meal. Our wine expert, Nick Hutchinson, recommends pairing your roast with our Lychgate Red, a medium-bodied dry wine with aromas that consist of blackberry, black cherry and peppery spice. The palate shows ripe blackcurrant and red berry flavours with herbaceous character, held together with good tannic structure. There is good acidity and a smooth, smoky and velvety finish. A great match with red meats, soft cheese and game, so just perfect for the roast dinner we have on offer. Not able to make it to our shop to buy? You can also buy this wine online HERE.
Available to buy in our shop and take away to enjoy at home are some new wines that our retail team have added to our repertoire. These wines have been carefully selected for the variety or style of wine that we cannot produce in the UK. We have two warming red wines which are just perfect for this time of year.
The first is this stunning Sangiovese which is a bright ruby colour with hints of violet. The bouquet is intense and fruity with ripe blackberries, wild strawberries and spice. The palate has a warm brambly feel, full of soft ripe fruit and a persistent spice to the finish. A real easy drinker, we recommend pairing with duck dishes or pasta with tomato based sauces. This can be bought from us directly in shop, or online in our shop HERE.
The second of our new wines, and the last of our winter warmer suggestions is this Dolcetto d’Alba which has a ruby red colour with violet reflections. On the nose you get delicate hints of flowers and fresh fruit, whilst on the palate it is dry with hints of almonds that linger. If not pairing with your roast dinner, we recommend pairing with a charcuterie and cheese platter. You can buy this wine HERE.
We only have these new and exciting wines in very limited numbers, so if they do sound like something that might tickle your taste buds, make sure you order a bottle or two now to avoid disappointment.
